Pound cakes are really not hard to make, but baking is like chemistry. You have to measure exactly by the recipe. Each ingredient reacts with each other to make a perfect cake. Most cake recipes have you to cream the sugar and butter together first, but when you do this, don't be in a rush.  Take your time and see that the sugar desolves into the butter and is not gritty before adding the eggs.  This is an important step in making a good cake.  Also, when adding eggs, it should be one at a time and be completely incorporated before adding another.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake

8 oz. cream cheese
1 1/2 cups butter(margarine can be used)
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a large mixing bowl cream together softened cream cheese and butter.  Add sugar a little at a time and cream together until well blended.  Add eggs one at a time until all are mixed in well. Add salt to flour then mix flour into butter, sugar, and egg mixture by half cup increments or (1/2 cup at a time).  Add vanilla, then mix about a minute more then pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 and 1/2 hours.
