Cream Cheese Pound Cake

Pound cakes are really not hard to make, but baking is like chemistry. You have to measure exactly by the recipe. Each ingredient reacts with each other to make a perfect cake. Most cake recipes have you to cream the sugar and butter together first, but when you do this, don't be in a rush. Take your time and see that the sugar desolves into the butter and is not gritty before adding the eggs. This is an important step in making a good cake. Also, when adding eggs, it should be one at a time and be completely incorporated before adding another.
Cream Cheese Pound Cake
8 oz. cream cheese
1 1/2 cups butter(margarine can be used)
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a large mixing bowl cream together softened cream cheese and butter. Add sugar a little at a time and cream together until well blended. Add eggs one at a time until all are mixed in well. Add salt to flour then mix flour into butter, sugar, and egg mixture by half cup increments or (1/2 cup at a time). Add vanilla, then mix about a minute more then pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 and 1/2 hours.
